Shri. J. Asir Packiaraj, ‘Distinguished Scientist’, is the Director of ISRO Propulsion Complex (IPRC) Mahendragiri, Tamil Nadu.

He is a graduate in Mechanical Engineering from College of Engineering, Guindy, Anna University, Chennai. He joined ISRO in the year 1986. He started his career in the field of high altitude testing of rocket engines and spacecraft engines.

He established state-of-art facilities for assembly & integration of liquid & cryogenic rocket stages for PSLV, GSLV and LVM3. The team led by him integrated the successful indigenous Cryogenic Stages for GSLV and LVM3.

He is a recipient of ISRO Merit Award and ISRO Performance Excellence Award and is a Fellow of Aeronautical Society of India.
